Community Involvement

The Giving Tree 2007

Our club overfloweth!  Liz was approached by Denver Human Services last December and was asked if she would like to participate in a program that provided Christmas gifts to those in need.  Human Services clients included abused, neglected and disabled senior citizens, adults and teens.  Her response was "Absolutely!  We love to help others in our community in any way possible."

Our club received 100 paper ornaments listing each client's name, age and gift wish.  The ornaments were hung from a tree in the club for all members to see.  The enthusiasm and generosity was immediate!  Our members responded by emptying the tree within days!  They enjoyed browsing the ornaments and choosing one or more that tugged at their heartstrings.  Each contributing member anticipated the JOY that those gifts would bring to their chosen ones on Christmas Day.

Much thought was put into the selection and wrapping of the gifts.  Some members added a personal note or letter to their package.  We even ended up with more gifts than ornaments after members brought in extra gifts!  Needless to say, our club was overflowing with presents for the month of December!

All in all, our wonderful members donated 107 gifts.  This is a real testimony to the spirit of the Curves community!  We give thanks and are so grateful that our Curves had the opportunity to participate in such a great event with such an incredible outcome.
